Born February 5, 1919, in Mio, he was the son of William and Grace Knepp and attended Fairview schools. He was a navy veteran of World War II. He was married to Ardith Fenn February of 1944, and she survives. He was sheriff of Oscoda county from 1951 to 1955. He and his family moved to Lyons in 1956 where he was employed as a meat cutter at Reynolds Food store and did part time carpenter work in the area. He was also councilman for the village of Lyons serving in that capacity at the time of death. Surviving are the wife, Ardith; son, Scott at home; and three daughters, Mrs. Sheila Hummel of Portland, Mrs. Ramona Nester of Jacksonville, N.C., and Randa at home; four brothers, Carl of Fairview, Dennis of Bay City, Clyde and Wayne of Mio; sisters, Mrs. Thelma Meinhard of Bay City. A son preceded him in death in 1959. Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Lyons United Methodist church. Rev. Richard Strait will officiate and interment will be at East Plains cemetery. Bearers will be Harry Rogers, Francis Ralph, Frank Barnes, Larry Treadway, Earl Van Dyne and John Grobbel. The body will be at Hull Memorial chapel at Muir until 9 a.m. Tuesday.
