An active member of the Catholic war Veterans & an avid bowler. Married Aurelia (Laurie) on June 21, 1958 in Dearborn, MI. Raised 4 children in Redford Township. Surviving are two sons, Paul (Becky) Knoerl of Rockford, MI and Gary (Ann Marie) Knoerl of Livonia. Two Daughters, Anne (Jerry) Zawacki of Orleans, MI and Jane (Phillip) Nuney of Southgate, MI. Grandchildren are Brian & Arron Knoerl, Megan (Adam) Masakowski, Richelle (Kelsey) Arroway & Sarah Knoerl. Two Brother are Donald (Joann) Knoerl and John (Joan) Knoerl. Sisters are Beverly Holderith and Norma McCann and many nieces & nephews. Preceded by parents, infant daughter Mary, wife Aurelia, sisters & brother- in-laws, Fred & Pat Chapman, Robert Holderith, Raymond McCann, Joan & John Parent and Eugene Lambert. Retired after 40 years with the US Postal service in Detroit, MI. Moved to Long Lake, Ionia County in 1983. Bernard enjoyed caring for their lawn, gardening, family & neighborhood gatherings. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 11 a.m. at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Father Tom Brown celebrant. A Family & Friends Gathering afterward at Olivera's restaurant. Burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Ionia, MI. Visitation at 4-7 PM at Lake funeral Home in Ionia with scripture at 7 PM and Saturday at 10 PM until time of service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church.
