The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Tuesday, Jul7 6, 2004
Woody Knop aged 82 of Ionia passed away July 3, 2004 in Ionia.  He was born 
August 11, 1921 in Detroit, Michigan the son of James and Nettie (Dik) Knop.  
He was a graduate of Ionia Highschool and Michigan State University. He 
married Margaret Easlick December 4, 1947.  He served in the United States 
Marine Corps from 1942 to 1946 and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. He 
received 2 DFC citations and 6 air medals.  He was a Charter Donor to the 
Ionia County Community Foundation.

He is survived by his children Linda Jones of Lake Odessa, Gary Knop of Grand 
Rapids, Sally Logan of Leslie and Beth Thompson of Saranac. Grandchildren Andy 
Jones, Bill Jones, Michael Kirkpatrick, John Logan, Lindee Thompson, Stacy 
Thompson. Great Grandchildren Cloie Jones, Ailee Kirkpatrick, Alison 
Kirkpatrick and Hunter Hartwell.  He was preceded in death by his wife 
Margaret in 1991. His sister Evelyn Winkle and brothers Kerwin and Maurice.

Woody was well liked and loved to chat with family and friends. He fulfilled 
many roles Dad , Grandpa and Great Grandpa.  Funeral services for Woody will 
be held Thursday 2:00 P.M. at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia with Rev. Kenneth 
Harger officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday 6-8 P.M. at the Funeral 
Home.
