RAPIDS Alonzo Knott, 92, former resident of Lake Odessa, died at his home in Grand Rapids, Friday. He was born in Herkimer county, N.Y., June 11, 1850. When a young man, he came to Michigan and located at Chippewa Lake where he established a blacksmithing and lumber business. He later moved to Grand Rapids and continued at the blacksmithing trade there. Several years ago he purchased the small farm just west of Lake Odessa now occupied by Mr and Mrs Leon VanNess and lived there with his niece Miss Ella Knott until eight years ago when they returned to Grand Rapids. Surviving besides the niece are a sister Mrs.Mary Snyder at Chippewa Lake. Other nieces and nephews in this vicinity are Mrs.John Otto, Mrs.Millie Garlinger, Mrs.Lewis Earle, Alonzo and Harvey Knott in Lake Odessa, Mrs.Mary Porter and Miss Emma Knoatt at Sunfield, and James Knott in Saranac. Funeral services were held from the Metcalf funeral home in Grand Rapids, Monday, with interment made in Lakeside cemetery here. He was a member of Lake Odessa Central Methodist Church.
