Portland Observer, 23 Aug 1882

Died. – In Portland, Aug. 13th, 1882, Alanson Knox, aged 60 years 8 months 11 
days.  Mr. Knox was one of the earliest settlers of Portland, having come here 
from St. Lawrence Co., N. Y. in 1836 and has resided here ever since.  He leaves 
a wife and two sons.  His funeral took place last Sunday afternoon and was 
largely attended by the citizens of Portland and vicinity.
