FORMER OFFICIAL OF PORTLAND SUCCUMBS AT WORK SATURDAY
George Knox, Former President of Portland, Had Been P.M. Employee 43 years

George A. Knox, 67, prominent life-long resident of Portland, dropped dead last 
Saturday morning at the Pere Marquette freight office, where he had given 43 
years of service. His death was sudden and the heart attack- came while he was 
signing freight receipts for a Portland concern.

It is a distinct shock to the village of Portland and the county at large, as 
he was well known and highly respected.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the late 
residence with Rev. Leo Niles in charge. Arthur Bandfield of Portland is the 
officiating undertaker, and interment will be made in Portland Cemetery.
