Knox, one of the founders of the Woolworth chain of stores and a chairman of the Marine National bank at the time of his death in 1915, died at her home in Buffalo. She had been ill for some time. Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. Edmund P. Rogers of New York, and Mrs. J. Hazard Campbell of Buffalo, and one son Seymour H. Knox, Jr., noted polo player. funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the home. Mrs. Knox loved to travel and has visited many European and Oriental countries. She attended the international polo matches in England last year when her son captained the Aurora polo team. She was active in charitable work in Buffalo and institutions benefiting from her gifts were the university of Buffalo, Buffalo museum of science. Albright art gallery, Goodyear convalescent home, Home for the Friendless, Millard Fillmore hospital, and joint charities. Mrs. Grace Millard Knox was the daughter of Charles A. and Sarah Avery Millard with whom she came to Ionia as a girl. Mr. Millard was a partner in a saw mill, known as the Bishop and Millard mill located on Long Lake, and later came to Ionia where he conducted a photograph gallery. Their home was the present home of Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Yates on East Washington street. He went with his family from Ionia to Detroit where he had a photograph establishment on Woodward avenue until his death. Grace Millard was married to Mr. Knox June 11, 1890 in Detroit.
