Geo. Koehler, pastor of the Evangelical church, passed away very suddenly, at the home of her son, at 1:30 this morning, of heart disease with asthmatic complications. Deceased was born in Baden, Germany, Dec. 9, 1827. She migrated to Switzerland when three years of age, where she lived until 1847, when she came to this country, locating at Detroit. It is recorded as an incident of the voyage that stormy weather prevailed, driving the ship out of its course within sight of the coast of Greenland, and that destruction from a collision with an iceberg was narrowly escaped. She was married in November, 1851, to J. W. Koehler, who died in 1890. They first resided in Detroit, but subsequently bought a farm near Lexington, Sanilac county, where they made a permanent home. She was the mother of nine children, seven of whom survive. She came here last fall to spend the winter with her son. Mrs. Koehler was a faithful member of the Evangelical church. Her life gave proof of her Christian character, and those who mourn her departure are consoled with the thought that she has gone to reap the reward of those who are steadfast in the faith of the lord Jesus. The remains will be taken to Sanilac county for interment, leaving tomorrow morning.
