He was born November 10, 1940 in Owosso the son of Paul and Faye (Smith) Koerner. Paul married Sharon Decker on August 15, 1964 in Midland. He taught at Nellie Reed Elementary in Vernon, MI for 34 years. Paul was a member of the First Free Methodist Church in Owosso, where he was very involved. He was a Chairman of the Board Trustees, Conference Delegate, Youth Group Leader, and sang in the Choir. He was a very accomplished singer. Paul enjoyed his grandson and was the family historian. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sharon Koerner of Ionia; son, Robert (Cindy) Koerner of Saranac; grandson, Kyle Koerner of Saranac and brother, Dean (Madelyn) Koerner of Corunna. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Raymond. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, August 24, 2:30 p.m. at Saranac Community Church with Pastors Paul Parker and Mark Kincaid officiating. Interment South Boston Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia on Saturday 2-5 p.m. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to First Free Methodist Church of Owosso or Saranac Boston Historical Society.
