April 23, 1948 Mrs. Josephine Werner Kohn, 87, died at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the home of Miss Kathleen Maloney, 217 South Bridge Street, Belding, where she and her daughter, Lucy have resided winters for the past six years. Mrs. Kohn suffered a stroke Sunday morning. She was born in Ionia county August 19, 1860, and in 1883 married Peter Kohn, an Otisco farmer, who died in 1923. She lived there 65 years except for a few summers in the north. She was a summer resident on the farm until her death. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Rosary society of Belding and was a charter member of both the Friendship club and the Maccabees of Smyrna. Surviving her are one daughter, Miss Lucy Kohn, manager of the Belding office of the Michigan Bell Telephone company; three sons, George of Palo, Fred of Lansing and John of Hubbardston; 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and one brother, Joe Werner, of Belding. The body was removed to the Fitzjohn funeral home with funeral arrangements to be announced later.
