Death Takes Pioneer Men of Community

Well Known Man Passes In Southern City Shortly After Leaving Here

Word was received here on last Thursday morning telling of the death, early that
morning, of John F. Kohn, aged 73 years, at the home of his son, Peter, in
Louisville, Kentucky, where he had gone about a month ago in the hope that his
health would be benefited by the change in climate.

Mr. Kohn was a pioneer resident of Otisco township and had lived on the farm
which he owned in the south east part of the township for practically half a
century.  He was highly esteemed and well liked by all with whom he came in
contact and his death, coming at a ripe old age, is learned of with regret by
all who knew him.

The remains were brought back and taken to the funeral parlors of a nephew, Mr.
Faber, at Greenville and the funeral was held on Saturday morning at nine
o’clock at St. Mary church, Miriam, of which he had been a life-long member. 
Rev. Fr. Lawrence A. Dorr officiating and burial was in the cemetery by the side
of his wife who preceded him into eternity some years ago.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Frank Kemp, of Miriam, a son, Peter Kohn, of
Louisville, Kentucky, a brother, Anthony Kohn, of Keene and a number of other
relatives and friends.
