Miss Lucy A. Kohn, 72, a long time Belding resident and veteran phone company
employee, died suddenly Monday morning at the home of Miss Kathleen Maloney in
Belding.  Born in Otisco township June 26, 1888, she was very active in club and
Red Cross work locally for many years.  She had resided with Miss Maloney since
1941.

Until her retirement in June of 1953, she had been a commercial service
representative with the Bell Telephone company for 25 years.  Prior to that time
she had served a number of years as a phone operator for both Bell and its
predecessor the Citizens Telephone Co.  She had a total of 46 years with both
companies.

Miss Kohn was a member of St. Joseph church and the Rosary society, along with
the Monday club, the New Idea club, the Blewelmn club, and was quite active in
local Red Cross work.

She was presented with a life membership in the Michigan Telephone association
at the time of her retirement in 1953.  This organization has as one of their
requirements 21 years of telephone service.

Miss Kohn is survived by a brother, George Kohn, of Palo, and 16 nieces and
nephews.  Her parents were Peter and Josephine Kohn.

A rosary service was held Wednesday evening at the Huffman Funeral Home at 8
p.m.  Pallbearers will include Gerald Stotz, Everett Eady, Albert Breimayer,
Clyde Sullivan, Donald Scheid and John Krupp.  Funeral services are at 10 a.m.
today, at the St. Joseph church with the Rev. Father C. E. Steves officiating. 
Burial will be in the St. Joseph cemetery.
