Chris was born on April 18, 1929 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of John and Anna (Henney) Rietdyk. In earlier years, she attended Good News Baptist Church, Gallilee Baptist Church, and Alpine Baptist Church, served on the Cheer Committee, was a member of the choir and served in many other ways at those churches. Most recently she was a member of Ashley Baptist Church, Belding. Chris lived a long and faithful Christian life. She had an unending love of her husband her seven sons, their spouses, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She never wavered from the saving power of her faith in Jesus Christ. Chris was a hard worker, enjoyed being a homemaker and being with her family and was always willing to help others, often sacrificing her own needs. She was married on March 12, 1954 in Grand Rapids to Edward Kooiman. Chris is loved and survived by her husband, Edward, and their children; John and Joan Stremler of Holland, Douglas Kooiman of Muskegon, David and Beverly Kooiman of Saranac, Michael and Kimberly Kooiman of Belding, Matthew and Michelle Kooiman of Lowell, Neal and Dawn Kooiman of Cedar Springs. Chris is also survived by 23 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and special friends, Curt and Bonnie Holmes of Belding. Chris was preceded by her parents; one son, Edward Kooiman Jr.; and two sisters, Marie and Joan. Funeral and Committal services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Ashley Baptist Church, Belding with Pastor David A. Oliver officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, and also one hour before the service at the church. Private Interment will be in Saranac Cemetery.
