He was born on October 19, 1935 the son of Louis J. and Oliva C. (Trierweiler) Koster. Bill had a great love for music. He was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Lake Odessa where he played the organ for the past 15 years. Bill also served St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Westphalia as the organist and served St. Patrick Catholic Church in Portland as a choir director and the organist for more than 30 years. He retired from the State of Michigan after 34 years of service. Bill enjoyed winters in Florida. Bill is preceded in death by his first wife, Genny in 1988, brothers, Paul and James (Mary Ann) Koster, parents, and brother-in-law Robert Reynolds. Surviving are his wife Marilyn of Portland; son Scott (Shawn) Koster of Portland; grandchildren Michael, Matthew, and Cecilia Koster; sisters Connie Koster of Lansing, Monica (Fred) Sanders of Lansing, Marie Reynolds of Lansing; sisters-in-law, Arlene Koster of Grand Ledge; special friend Erma Beattie of Lansing, and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial was conducted by Rev. Thomas Hack on Oct. 7, at St. Edward Catholic Church, Lake Odessa. Arrangements were entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland, Contributions may be made to any charity of choice in William’s name.
