LEONARD G. KOUTZ HASTINGS - The Rev. Leonard G. Koutz, 55, of Hastings, formerly of Lake Odessa, died Nov. 14 at Provincial House in Hastings following a lengthy illness. He was born in Lake Odessa on Nov. 29, 1925, the son of Lloyd and Mina (VanCamp) Koutz. He attended Lake Odessa schools, graduating in 1943. He married the former Eveline Potter on Dec. 5, 1947. They lived in Lansing before moving to Owosso where he attended the Owosso Bible College and seminary being ordained in 1957. He pastored churches in Charlotte, Fulton, Nashville, and Waukegon, Ill., he came to Hastings in 1964 from Nashville and worked as a self-employed building contractor and supply minister for area churches. He retired in 1975 because of failing health. He was a member and former deacon of the First Baptist Church and was a leader in the Awana Club. He is survived by his wife, Eveline; one daughter, Mrs. James (Cheryl) House, Jr. of Grand Rapids; three sons, Michael of Kalamazoo, Ronald of Garden Grove, Cal. and Timothy of Denver, Colo., and two grandsons. His father and step mother, Lloyd and Anne Koutz of Peoria, Ariz.' and a sister, Mrs. Norwood (Pauline) Knowles of Burbank, Cal. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mina Koutz, in 1957 and one brother, Donald, in 1976. Arrangements are by Leonard-Osgood and Wren Funeral Home of Hastings.
