Funeral Sunday. Again death has entered the Koutz family of Odessa township and taken the oldest son, Dean Koutz. Mr. Koutz died at the home of his brother, Mr and Mrs.B.F. Koutz after a lingering illness of nine weeks. The Koutz family settled in Michigan in 1872 and were of a hard working frugal stock. The brothers and sisters settled near each other and are among the most stanch and respective citizens of the township. The funeral was held t the Calvary U.B. Church. Lake Odessa Sunday afternoon. The sermon was by Rev. Harold Bugby, pastor of the Wesleyan church. Mr.R.W. Goodemoot and Mrs.W.C. McCartney accompanied by Mrs. Thos. Johnson furnished the music. The ball bearers were Alvin, Vernon and Lloyd Koutz, Bud Pew, Clarence Hausserman and Frank Beckhold. All nephews of the deceased. Burial was at Lake Side Cemetery. OBITUARY Ezra Dean Koutz, the eldest son of George and Liza Koutz, was born in Stark County, Ohio, December 5, 1854 and departed this life at the home of his brother, Benjamin F. Koutz, April 3, 1929, at the age of 77 years and four months. He came to Michigan with his parents when one year of age. His entire life was spent in the immediate vicinity in which he died. August 2, 1880 he was united in marriage to Phebie Huble, who preceded him in 1908. To this union was born one daughter, Now Florence Sedore. He leaves to mourn their loss, one daughter, two grandsons, Harold and Maynard Sedore, two sisters, Mrs.Sarah Hausserman and Mrs.Charles Kauffman, three brothers, Charles J, Benjamin F Koutz and Andrew F Koutz, and a host of relatives and friends. In early life he gave his heart in God, and continued his trust to the end, saying he was going home. He heard the angels singing, On yonder shining shore And when the gates stood open wide He calmly entered home. CARD OF THANKS We wish to thank the friends and neighbors for their kindness and assistance at the time of the illness and death of our father and brother, also to the Missionary Society for their remembrances, for flowers, the minister, singers and for the use of the church.
