Kowatch, 63, of Port Richy, Fla., were held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Leddick Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Hausermann of First United Methodist Church officiating. Organist was Mrs. Josephine Barna. Burial was in Saranac cemetery. Bearers were Alden Smith, Russell Croel, Harold Frey, Richard Lafler, Darrell Walkington and Herbert Olson. Mrs. Kowatch was born in Saranac April 19, 1916, the daughter of Leroy and Nine (Bartlett) Hunter. She attended Saranac schools and graduated from Saranac High School. She worked in the office at the Saranac Creamery. She was married to Albert Kowatch on Dec. 9, 1939 and they made their home in Saranac. They lived in Ionia for 25 years, before moving to Morrison Lake in 1969. They sold their home at Morrison lake in 1977 and moved to Port Richy. She had worked many years for Michigan Bell Telephone Co. prior to her retirement. She is survived by her husband, Albert; one son, Gene, of Ionia; one daughter, Mrs. Ray (Kae) Kennedy, of Lowell; five grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established for the Michigan Heart Association. Contributions may be left at the funeral home.
