Kramer, 75, a life long resident of Pewamo, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2001 after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born on Jan. 8, 1926, in Pewamo, the son of Carl and Regina (Thelen) Kramer. As a young man, Bruce was a pitcher for the Washington Senators baseball team. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II in the Philippines. He was a member of the VFW Fowler Westphalia Pewamo Post 3733. Bruce was known to many at the proprietor of Kramer’s Tavern in Pewamo, which was in the Kramer family for almost 50 years. He enjoyed golfing, walking, playing cards, traveling and P-W Pirate sports. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Monica. Surviving are his wife of over 54 years, Lucile (Fedewa); sons, Bruce (Cathy) of Baltimore, Md.; Rex (Debbie) of Muir and Dan (and friend, Connie) of Crystal; daughter, Brenda (Dennis) Aanderud of Manassas, Va.; grandchildren, Jennifer, Bruce and Neal Kramer of Baltimore, Md., and Lydia, Carley, and Jenna Kramer of Muir; brothers, Steve (Mary Ann) and Carl (Wanda) both of Pewamo; and several nieces and nephews. The mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Charlon O. Mason, pastor at 11 a.m. Thursday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rite of Committal following at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Military grave side honors will be provided by the VFW Fowler Westphalia Pewamo Post 3733. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the St. Mary’s Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia St. The rosaries will be prayed at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday and 3 p.m. Wednesday. There will be a scriptural service held at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
