Kramer, age 86, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, MI. Robert was born on February 28, 1923 in Pewamo, MI the son of August and Elizabeth (Stump) Kramer. He married Shirley Droste on May 15, 1948. She preceded him in death on April 1, 2008. Robert, or Bob, as he was known to his many friends and family resided in Ionia since early 1950. Bob served in WWII and was stationed in India. He retired from the Michigan Department of Agriculture in 1984, where he was a State Dairy Inspector and USDA butter grader. Bob was active in Ionia as a member of the Knights of Columbus, a long-time Board Member of the Housing Commission, and a founding member of the Bungalow Coffee Club. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He greatly enjoyed people, sweets, golf, and playing cards. Bob is survived by his sons, Tom (Carolyn) Kramer of Coldwater, Jack (Diane) Kramer of Winter Park, Florida, and Keith (Arlene) Kramer of Howell. He is also survived by his sister Marguerite (Russ) Cook-Bitner of Lansing; brothers, Jerry (Jeanette) Kramer of Portland, and Dave (Judy) Kramer of Pewamo. His grandchildren are Mark Kramer of Ann Arbor and Matt Kramer of Chicago. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Melvin Fox, Pastor at 11 am Friday, March 13, 2009 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Interment will take place in the spring at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich Street, Ionia from 4-8 p.m. Thursday with a scriptural wake service being held at 8 p.m. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Heartland Healthcare Center in Ionia.
