                                 HERMAN KREIS

Herman Kreis, 65, of Traverse City, formerly of Ionia, died Thursday evening at 
Munson Hospital, following an illness of four months.

Mr. Kreis was born November 9, 1893 in Tubingen, Germany, and came to this 
country in 1913. He lived in New York City until 1940 and moved to Ionia in 
1942. He has made his home in Traverse City the past two months.

In 1915 he was united in marriage to Lydia Sprague of Greenville, she preceded 
him in death in 1953.

Mr.Kreis was a member, and past master, of Ionia Masonic Lodge 36, and a number 
of other Masonic Orders, including the Saladin Temple of Grand Rapids. He was a 
member of BPOE Lodge and St.Johns Episcopal Church of Ionia.

Surviving are a daughter,Mrs.Robert F.Mitchell of Traverse City with whom 
Mr.Kreis had made his home the past two months; a son, Lt.Commander Herman 
W.Kreis of Key West, Fla; two brothers and three sisters, all of Tubingen, 
Germany; and seven grandchildren.

Service will be held at  Hibbard Funeral Chapel at Traverse City at 10 a.m. 
Monday. The Rev. Francis Foley of Grace Episcopal Church will officiate.

Graveside services will be at Forest Home Cemetery at Greenville, under the 
direction of Ionia Masonic Lodge, at 3:30 p.m., Monday.
