Kress, sr., 65, died Thursday at 7:30 a.m. at her home, 522 Lafayette street. She had been in ill health for several weeks and critically ill for nearly a week. Louise Sophia Behrens was born December 10, 1878, in Germany and was the daughter of Frederic and Sophia Behrens. She came to the United States with her parents at the age of five. September 25, 1898, she was married to Paul R. Kress, in Saginaw and the couple moved to Ionia in 1907 where they had since resided. She is survived by five sons, Edward P. Kress of Seattle, Wash., Paul Kress, jr., of Albion, George H. Kress of Ionia, Lieut. Lawrence Kress, army of the United States, Camp Hood, Texas, Clarence Kress, storekeeper third class in active sea duty with the U.S. naval reserve; five daughters, Mrs. Isabelle Burgess of Pontiac, Mrs. Thelma Osborne of Sparta, Wis., Mrs. Doris Jinks, Mrs. Alice Strong and Miss Amelia L. Kress of Ionia; 12 grandchildren; three brothers, Henry Behrens, Fred Behrens and William Behrens, all of Saginaw. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Myers funeral home. Rev. A.J. Westmaas of the First Presbyterian church will officiate and burial will be in Highland Park cemetery.
