He was born in Germany and came to this country with his parents when he was two years old, settling in Berlin township and has been a resident of this county ever since that time. He is survived by his wife, Martha; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Schneider, of Grand Rapids and Mrs. James Schnabel, of Lake Odessa; two sons, Thomas and Charles, at home; one granddaughter; two brothers, Amil, of Ionia, and Fred, of Orange, and one sister, Mrs. Minnie Caswell, of Ionia. The rosary was recited at the home Sunday evening at 8 o’clock, in charge of the Holy Name society. Funeral services were in charge of the Fales-Huffman Funeral Chapel and were conducted at St. Mary’s church, Miriam, at 10 o’clock, Rev. Fr. Charles E. Steve’s officiating. He was assisted by Fr. John Gryzbowski as deacon; Fr. Donald Ferrell, sub-deacon, and Fr. Joseph Reitz, master of ceremonies. Interment was in St. Mary’s cemetery, Miriam. Pallbearers were Peter Andres, George Feuerstein, Julius Rittersdorf, Ferd Breimayer, Theodore Albert and Anthony Marhofer.
