When Madison was 19 years old he came with the family to Michigan, where they settled on a farm just north of Matherton, now the Corey Patrick farm. He graduated from the Hubbardston High School, and after attending the County Normal school at St. Johns, taught in the rural schools near Matherton for several terms. In 1902 he was married to Lena Harder, and for 35 years they worked the old home farm. To this union was born one daughter, now Mrs. Mildred Woodworth of Lyons. Beside his widow and daughter he is also survived by two brothers; Andrew of Barberton, Ohio, and George of Matherton, and four sisters: Mrs. Cora Root of Lansing and Jane, Emma and Candace of Matherton; also two grandchildren. For the last eleven years Mr. Kreighbaum lived in the village of Matherton. During the last four years he had been in ill health and for the last several months, an invalid. About 1895 he was converted to the Christian life and for the 40 years until his death he lived a consistent life of faith. For over 30 years he regularly taught a Sunday school class. In 1929 he became a member of the Matherton Methodist church. He was a lover of sacred music and sang the bass in the village choir for many years. As long as he had a voice to sing he used it in the praise and worship of God. In his physical disability he was patient and uncomplaining. He passed peaceably from this world to the land of endless day, February 27, 1935. The funeral service was held in the Matherton Methodist church on Sunday afternoon with interment in the East Plains Cemetery. Rev. Floyd N. Drake officiated, assisted by Rev. Chester Barr. Mrs. Fred Chick and Mrs. Henry Tabor sang, accompanied by Myrtle Reed.
