Ken was born on June 26, 1954 in Grand Rapids, the son of Arthur J. and Genevieve H. (Brummel) Kroon. Ken graduated from Grand Rapids Christian High School and early on had a lifelong passion for cooking and loved being a chef. Ken worked for many years in local restaurants, including the Village Hearth in Belding, The Winter Inn, Ponderosa and most recently Huckleberry’s in Greenville. Ken loved his work and the many friends he made during his years as a chef. He will be greatly missed. Ken is loved and survived by his children, Heidi (Rick) Feathers of Greenville, Shane Kroon and Karley King of Six Lakes, and Amanda (Matt) Cole of Franklin, Tenn.; his grandchildren, Alex Bryan, Austin Feathers, Kayle Holliday, and Caleb Kroon; his brothers and sisters; Jim (Carol) Kroon of Grand Rapids, Dan (Wendy) Kroon of New Jersey, Nancy (Gary) Pipe, and Marybeth (Dan) Poll, all of Grand Rapids. Ken was preceded by his parents. Ken had chosen to donate his body for anatomical research to Michigan State University. A time to share memories of Ken and his life will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Lung Association.
