He was born on July 12, 1944 in Ionia the son of Joseph and Edna Krueger. Joseph retired from the Department of Corrections in 2002. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a "fierce," honest family man who thought spending time with his family was the most important thing in life. Joseph loved fishing, hunting, golfing and to feed the birds and critters. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte of 48 years; son Joseph (Nicole) Krueger; daughter, Mary (Tony) Cusack; grandchildren Gavin, Zackery and Hannah; brothers- in-law Lamont Farrell and family of Fountain Valley, CA, Jack Farrell of New Mexico and Willard (Kim) Farrell of Ionia; sister-in-law, Peggy (George) Shindorf of Ionia; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Phill and Adel Hausserman. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Thomas Boufford at 11 a.m., Friday, April 4, 2014 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 434 High St., Ionia. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m., Thursday at the Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich St., Ionia.
