Find Man In Road Under His Wagon

Stricken With Paralysis and Fell Under Horses Heels Into Roadway

With his head up near to the heels of the horses attached to his wagon, Charles
J. Krupp, well known farmer and resident of the Miriam district, was found
Thursday afternoon by Mrs. Mays, of Smyrna, lying in the road near the top of
what is known as the “Dickens” hill, south of this city on the Smyrna road.  Mr.
Krupp had fallen from his wagon and the team had apparently stopped.

Mrs. Mays stopped and haled others who were nearby and they got Mr. Krupp into a
car and took him home, calling Dr. Penton, of Smyrna, who pronounced the man as
suffering with and having been stricken with a severe attack of paralysis.  His
son, Dr. Christian Krupp, of Grand Rapids, was immediately notified and he came
to the parents home with an ambulance and took the aged sufferer back to St.
Mary hospital, where he was treated, but death came on Monday, without Mr. Krupp
having regained consciousness.

Mr. Krupp was born on the farm where he has resided all his life and was 69
years of age at the time of his death.  Surviving are the widow, two sons, Dr.
Christian G. Krupp, of Grand Rapids and Frank Krupp, at home; three daughters,
Mrs. Rufus Waldron, of Flint; Mrs. Eugene Birdsell, of Ionia and Miss Dorothy
Krupp, at home.  George Krupp, of Miriam, is a brother and Mrs. Anna Byrnes, of
Parnell, Mrs. K. Mulholland, of Grand Rapids and Mrs. Frances Kemp, of Miriam,
are sisters.
