Mr. Kuhn was born in Rheinheim, Bavaria, and emigrated to America with his parents while he was but a lad of three years and settled in Seneca county, Ohio. Nearly a quarter of a century ago he and his wife came to Michigan and located in Keene on the farm he purchased of Mr. Cowles which has been his home since to the day of his death. A year ago last November the venerable couple celebrated their golden wedding, besides his faithful wife he leaves 11 children, five sons Wm. Kuhn, now in Louisiana, Otto J. of Belding, Jacob of Keene, Joseph of Maple Grove and Lawrence of St. Louis, Mo., and six daughters Mrs. Paul Feuerstein, Mrs. J. P. Gasper, Mrs. Joe Jacoby, Mrs. M. Billinger, Mrs. Louis Dollar and Mrs. Amos Walter, the latter of Greenville. The funeral services which were very impressive and attended by a large number of old neighbors and friends were held in the church at Miriam, in charge of Revs. Fr. Muer of Miriam, Fr. Fierle of Ionia and Fr. Auer of Portland, the Ionia Catholic church choir were present and rendered the music for the solemn occasion. His remains were tenderly laid to rest in the cemetery near the church.
