Kussmaul, 80, former Lake Odessa resident, died at her home in Ferndale Wednesday at 11 a.m. She was the daughter of George V. and Christina Smith Hildinger and had lived in the Lake Odessa area until she moved to the Detroit area in 1945. She was a private piano instructor for many years while in Lake Odessa and was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 315 of Lake Odessa of which she was organist for many years. Mrs. Kussmaul was born August 27, 1879 in Eaton county, a short distance east of M66 on M50. Her husband Gottlieb died in 1948. She is survived by two brothers, Byron Hildinger of Ann Arbor and Lawrence Hildinger of Lansing; nieces and nephews, and a son-in-law, Vernon Chapin of Ferndale. Her only daughter died a short time after marriage. Funeral service will be held from the Pickens funeral chapel Saturday at 1:30 p.m. with burial at Lakeside cemetery. The Rev. F. J. Fitch of the Lake Odessa Methodist church will officiate.
