Andrew Kuttler, for nearly 50 years a resident of this county, passed away Friday afternoon after a brief illness. Mr. Kuttler was born in Germany, and came to this country when in his early twenties. He first settled in Washtenaw county, but has been a resident of Ionia county since the days before the Civil war. For many years Mr. Kuttler was the foreman on the Sanford Yeomans farm, in Easton township, and helped to build up to the fine condition it is now in. He later purchased a farm of his own in Orleans township where he has lived for many years. Both Mr. and Mrs. Kuttler have been in poor health for several years. The cause of his death was given as lung trouble. Mrs. Kuttler was also reported to be very ill this morning. Mr. Kuttler is the only member of the family who held to the old original German way of spelling the family name. He was at the time of his death past 80 years of age. Mr. Kuttler is one of the older members of the Arbetiter society. Mr. Kuttler is survived by his widow, Mrs. Barbara Kuttler and an own cousin, Mrs. Barbara Doppmann. Fred Cutler; Mrs. Carrie Defendorf and Mrs. Seymour Showerman are also relatives. The funeral will be held from the Evangelical church Sunday afternoon at 2:30. Rev. Herbert Stressman will officiate. Burial it is expected will take place in Oak Hill cemetery. Those wishing to view the remains may do so at the church before the funeral.
