Wilson, near Williamston. Gerald had been playing in the yard with this sister and cousin, who left him alone while they went for a walk. In some manner the child had managed to move a large lawn roller weighing around 300 lbs., tugging it down the driveway behind him until a slight depression in the road must have sent it rolling on top of him, crushing the breath from him. The family who were holding a reunion for a brother who was home on furlough, were engaged in writing to another brother overseas, and it was some 15 or 20 minutes before the child was discovered. He was rushed to Sparrow hospital, Lansing, where all efforts at resuscitation failed. Gerald met death on his birthday, have been born in Boston township on October 22, 1940. Besides the parents he leaves a sister, Kathleen 5, and a baby brother, Charles. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 3 o’ clock in the Roth Chapel, with Rev. C. E. Pollock officiating. Four uncles served as pallbearers, Corp. Walter Ellis, Percy Ellis, Leo Kyser and Donald Kyser. Burial was in South Boston cemetery. The entire community joins in extending sympathy to the bereaved parents and other relatives.
