The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, November 19, 1979


R. Thomas LaBan, 37, of 10265 Van Buren Road, Portland, died Saturday at St. 
Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids.  Mr. LaBan, formerly of the Grand Rapids area, 
had lived in the Portland area for six years.  He was born May 10, 1941 in 
Grand Rapids, the son of Ralph LaBan and Josephine Folkertsma.

Survivors include his mother, Josephine, of Portland; and a sister, Mrs. 
Richard (Joan) Covell, of Portland.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Neller Funeral Home in 
Portland with the Rev. Ronald Sparks officiating.  Graveside services will be 
at 1 p.m. at the Oakhill Cemetery in Grand Rapids.  Pallbearers will be James 
Covell, Clarence Reyburn, Carl Morehouse, Edward Moore and Daniel and Donald 
Folkertsma.  Memorial contributions to the Kidney Foundation may be left at the 
funeral home.
