Hastings Reminder


CLARKSVILLE -	William Lachniet, age 98, of Clarksville, went Home to his 
beloved Lord and Savior on Feb. 23, 2007.

Born on August 4, 1908, William was reared on the family farm where the 
Kentwood Flowerland now stands. 

He married Gertrude Tanis on Nov. 21, 1929.

William had farmed in the Clarksville area for over 40 years. He was the oldest 
living member of the Alto Baptist Church.

William was a man of integrity, but above all, he served the Lord he loved in 
all he did. 

Surviving are his children, Elaine (Ken) Dykhuis of Alto, Roger (Maureen) 
Lachniet of Grand Rapids; daughter-in-law, Eleanore Lachniet of Goodview, VA; 
19 grandchildren; many great and great great grandchildren; brother, Peter 
Lachniet of Hudsonville; and sister, Minnie Tanis of Laurels of Hudsonville.

William was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gertrude; two infant 
children; son, Carl; brothers, Cornelius Lachniet, Henry Lachniet, and Arnold 
Lachniet; sister, Margaret Herrema-McNutt; granddaughter, Cynthia Mitchell; and 
grandsons, Kevin Dykhuis and Steven Dykhuis.

The funeral service was held Monday, February 26, 2007 at the Alto Baptist 
Church with Pastor Harduk officiating. Burial was in Clarksville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alto Baptist 
Church Building Fund or Mel Trotter Missions.

Arrangements made by Koops Memorial Chapel in Clarksville.
