LAKE ODESSSA – Vance Dale Lackey, age 84, of Lake Odessa, passed away on Friday 
evening, October 2, 2009.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Margaret (Johnson) Lackey, 
brother, Lawrence Lackey; grandson, Jeffrey VanAlstine; granddaughter, Amy 
Cruz; and great grandson, Connor Moinet.

Vance is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ardene (Scheidt) Lackey; children, 
Michael (Carolyn) Hilley, Sharon (Gary) VanAlstine, Gail (Ray)Brandt, Jeffrey 
(Vicki) Lackey, and Steven (Sally) Lackey; 19 grandchildren; 14 great 
grandchildren; brother, Douglas (Janice) Lackey; several brothers-in-law and 
sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. 

The funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 6 at the Koops Funeral Chapel. 
Burial was in lakeside Cemetery.

The family has suggested that memorial contributions may be made to the Jackson-
Mutschler VFW Post #4461 in Lake Odessa, or to the Barry Community Hospice.
