Hasting's Reminder -  Saturday June 21, 2025

Janice Louise Lackey, age 82, formerly of Lake Odessa,MI passed away on March 
21,2025 in Lake Placid,FL. Janice was born in Lowell,MI along with her twin 
sister,Janet, on Sept.15,1942; the daughters of Ralph and Helen (Brail) Norton.

Janice was married to Douglas Lackey on Sept 2, 1961. Janice and Doug loved 
going places and doing things with family and friends. In earlier years weekends 
were spent traveling to Silver Lake with their two daughters and a dune Buggy in 
tow. In later years the two of them would travel to a number of tractor shows 
where they  would camp for the weekend checking out the tractors and mingling 
with old and new friends. When their travels to tractor shows ended Summer 
weekends at Snow Lake Campgrounds with relatives enjoying music, cookouts and 
many evening campfires.

Janice worked  a number of jobs in her life but the ones that stood out whe most 
were working at EBI Break thru in Lake Odessa with special needs people and then 
later joining the Lakewood Ambulance as a paramedic for over 18 years. She 
enjoyed her work and loved playing an active part in her community.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; husband,Doug; sister, Janet 
Zachowksi; brother, Lee Norton, and son-in-law, Mike Walton.

She is survived by brothers, Larry and John Norton; and sister, Judy; daughters, 
Annette Walton and Kyle (Paige) Walton; great grandsons, Declan, Keagan, and 
Brennan Walton; and many nieces and nephews.

A service will take place at Lakeside Cemetery in Lake Odessa,MI on Saturday, 
June 28, 2025 at 2 p.m.. Friends and family welcome. Pastor John Waite 
officiating.

 In case of rain service will be held at the Freight House behind the depot at 
113-1215 Emerson St., Lake Odessa.
