Laden, 73, of 715 West Lincoln avenue, died at 1 p.m. Saturday at Butterworth hospital in Grand Rapids, where she had been a patient six weeks. She was born in Carson City, November 13, 1889, the daughter of John and Carrie Straight Fowler. She moved to Ionia in 1912 and was married to Blaine Laden, January 20, 1919. Mrs. Laden had resided at the present residence 44 years and from 1938 to 1959 operated a tea room at her home. She was a member of First Methodist church and was past president of the Women's Society of Christian service. She was a past matron of Queen Esther Chapter 35, past worthy high priestess of Ionic Shrine 41 and past-president of Ionia Garden club. She was a member of BroLad club. Surviving are her husband, Blaine; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Fowler of Grand Rapids; two brothers, Vernon Fowler of Jackson and Marion Fowler of Hubbardston. Floral services will be conducted at First Methodist church Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Harold A. Jayne officiating. Burial will be in the family lot at Saranac cemetery. Contributions for a memorial fund for First Methodist church will be accepted at Boynton funeral home.
