Mr. LaDue was born in Matherton on Feb. 6, 1909, the son of Lyle and Bessie Dick LaDue. He attended Ionia High School and was married to Dorothy Reed in Indiana on June 2, 1934. During WWII, Mr. LaDue served with the U. S. Army in France and Germany and was awarded the silver battle star. He was discharged in 1945 and returned to Ionia. He had been employed as a clerk at the Ionia post office for 24 years prior to his recent retirement. Mr. LaDue was a member of the First Christian Church, the Disabled American Veterans and was a life member of the Ionia Fishing and Hunting Club. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Janice) Shaffer of Pewamo; a brother, L. B. LaDue of California; two sisters, Jena Oosterhof of Holland, Mich., and Leola Szemer of Lansing; and three grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Leddick Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Dow of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in the Balcom Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the First Christian Church. Pallbearers were Robert Wizorek, Marion Munn, Dr. Charles Langdon, Dr. Michael Langdon, Nikolas Brush and Scott Adams. Organist was Mrs. Josephine Barna. Burial was in the Balcom Cemetery. Following graveside services a luncheon was served to family and friends at the First Christian Church. Attending the services as a group were present and retired Post Office employees and members of the Ionia Hunting and Fishing Club."
