The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, November 27, 1978
Walter F. Lafferty, 75, of 960 Dildine Road, Rural Ionia, died early Monday 
morning at his residence following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Detroit February 8, 1903 the son of Edward and Ida West 
Lafferty and attended school in Detroit.  He married Lenore Cehring August 25, 
1930 in Toledo, Ohio.  They made their home in Detroit where he worked at 
Vickers Corporation.  After they moved to Ionia in 1945 he worked at General 
Motors Plant in Lansing and then General Motors Fisher Body Plant in Grand 
Rapids until retirement in 1971.

Surviving are his wife, Lenore; one son, Gregory Lafferty of Orleans; one 
daughter, Mrs. Karlyle (Donna) Lafler, Ionia; three grandchildren; two 
brothers, Elmer Lafferty of Grand Rapids; Charles Lafferty of East Detroit; 
one sister, Mrs. George (Mildred) Lobeck of East Detroit.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Leddick funeral home.  Rev. 
Nolan Williams of Zion United Methodist church will officiate.  Burial will be 
in Easton cemetery.  A memorial fund has been established for the American 
Cancer Society and contributions may be left at the funeral home.  Family will 
receive friends and relatives at the funeral home Monday 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday 
2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
