MARY HELMER

Died March 14, 2026-age 85 of Ionia.
Born December 25, 1940 in Ionia, daughter of Kenneth & Pearl (Chapman) Ward.
Married Thayne Gordon Helmer on July 22, 1989, he preceded her in death on 
November 11, 2007.
Mary worked for General Tire for many years & later went in to Real Estate, 
working for Greenridge Reality in Lowell as a Real Estate Agent.
She was an avid painter & enjoyed playing Bride. She loved her Yorky, Maxwell.
Survived by her children, Denise (Dave) Rogers of Haines City,Fla.,Wayne (Barb) 
Lafler of Lowell & Greg (Anna) Lafler of Ionia.
Step-children, Brenda Simpson (Sam) Julie Waldron & Valerie Baas.
Grandchildren,Araceli (FLo) Rihel, Kirstin Lafler, David Stephens, Brandi 
Lafler, Darcy(Troy)Campbell, Alexandria Clinton Hewartson, Mark Simpson,Bradley 
Baas,Colin Baas,Ashley Heyniger & Amber Hosford.
Several Great-grandchildren, Sister Susan Solomon of Portland, several nieces & 
nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband Thayne, grandsons, Matthew Lafler & 
Jeremy Rogers, daughter Brenda Hewartson & sister, Sonja Reed.
Funeral services will be Friday March 20 at 1 PM at Lake Funeral Home,Ionia.
Interment to follow at Easton Cemetery.
Visitation on Friday at 11PM until time of the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
