Mr. Stephen F Lake, 52, of Sheridan, passed away Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, at 
United Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

Stephen was born June 30, 1948, in Ionia, the son of Foster C. and Jean E. 
(Culp) Lake. He grew up and attended school in the Ionia and Sheridan area and 
served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. 

Mr. Lake worked for Extruded Metals in Belding for 22 years. He was married 
Oct. 22, 1999 at Shiloh Community Church to Lila Helms.

Stephen like to spend time at his cabin in the Upper Penninsula. He also liked 
hunting, fishing and motorcycles. He was a member of the Sheridan V.F.W. Post.

Mr. Lake is survived by his wife, Lila; one son, Stephen Foster Lake of Grand 
Rapids; one daughter Stacy Lynn Lake of Freemont, one brother Philip (Theresa) 
Lake of Ind.; step-mother Lynn Eilene Lake; three nieces and nephews, Justin, 
Josie and Charli; two sisters-in-law Ethelyn Helms and Ann (Jerry) Adair; one 
brother-in-law Alvin (Ruth Ann) Helms. He was preceded in death by his father 
Foster, and his sister, Nichole.

Funeral services for Stephen F. Lake will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. from 
Shiloh Community Church with Pastor Kenneth Hager officiating.

Interment will be in North Plains Cemetery. Visiting hours are today from 2 
p.m. to 4 p.m. and again from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, Rich 
Street Chapel, Ionia.

Memorial contributions may be made to Minuteman Ministries. Envelopes are 
available at the funeral home and at the church.
