Funeral at Congregational Church. Leaves Son and Daughter. Charles Lake, 79 years old, died at the Ionia County farm near Ionia Thursday afternoon and the funeral was held at the Congregational church the following Sunday afternoon. Burial was in Lakeside cemetery. Mr. Lake came to Lake Odessa from Galesburg, Mich., almost at the time this village was started in about 1890 and operated a livery barn here continuously until about 1918, when the business became unprofitable. He also had a piece of land west of town which he worked in later years. Mrs. Lake died about two years ago. There remains one daughter Mrs. Nina Statton of Tulsa, Okla., and one son Guy Lake of Climax, Mich. Thus one by one the original settlers of this little city are passing on and their lives remains only a memory.
