   SENTINEL-STANDARD, Tuesday, December 28, 1999, page 3:  "OBITUARIES - Melvin
L. Lake, 66, of Laingsburg, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at Sparrow Hospital in
Lansing.
   He was born Feb. 26, 1933, in Muir, the son of Foster and Viola (Sprague)
Lake.  He attended Muir Schools and was a resident of Laingsburg since 1973.  He
retired from Fisher Body and was a member of the DeWitt Moose Lodge, the
Laingsburg VFW and the Laingsburg American Legion.
   He married Betty Lounsberry on April 11, 1962, in Grand Ledge.  She survives,
along with his children, David (Winnie) Lake of Texas, Douglas (Ileen) of
Coloma, Patrick Lake of Texas, Melvia Janes and Janine Saxton, both of Ovid; 13
grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters and one brother.
   He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Chelsea; three brothers and two
sisters.
   Funeral services for Mr. Lake will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at
Nelson-House Funeral Home, Laingsburg, with the Reverends Edd Wilder and Gary
Hawes officiating.  Visitation was Monday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will be
today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorial
contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society."
