She had not been as well as usual this winter, although able to maintain her own home at 623 S. Pleasant St. Her grandson and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Salzman of Detroit had come to the city last Wednesday and taken her home with them for a rest and care. Growing worse, she was taken to the hospital where she died. Rose Whitney was born June 28, 1866, at Richland, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Whitney. A graduate of Ypsilanti Normal college in 1888, she was married to Harry Lamb on September 18, 1889 and they came to Belding where Mr. Lamb was a prominent grocer until his death November 24, 1928. Mrs. Lamb was a former member of the Congregational church and an active worker, especially in all musical circles of the church and city. She organized the Ladies Literary club in 1897 and was its president until 1901, serving again from 1907 to 1910. She also founded the Ladies’ Thimble club and served as its head officer, always maintaining the high aims she had for the organizations when they were founded. She was a member of the Goodfellowship club. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Albert Salzman; two grandsons, Harry Salzman of Detroit, and Robert of Dallas, Tex.; two great grandsons and one great granddaughter; one sister, Mrs. D. F. Helmer, of Grand Rapids. Funeral services will be held this fternoon at the Fitzjohn Funeral chapel, Rev. Halley B. Oliver officiating and burial will be in the mausoleum in River Ridge cemetery. Pallbearers will be Forrest Neve, Herman Salzman, Henry Gildemeister, Harry Trull, Vern Brown and Glenn Wortley.
