Mr. Lance was born November 18, 1904 in Clinton County the son of Charles and Fidelia Lance. The family later moved to Ionia where he attended school. He was married August 15, 1943 and made his home in Ionia. He was a member of Temple Baptist church. He was employed as a taxi driver in the city for several years, drove trucks for Hendricks and worked at Ionia Iron and Metal. He just started working at the station the past week. Surviving are his mother Fidelia Lance of Carson City, wife Mary, one son Charles and five daughters, Ruth Ann, Valerie and Linda at home, Mrs. Barbara Jean Laney and Mrs. Rose Mary Horrocks all of Ionia; four brothers, Freemen, Detroit, Charles of Palm Springs, Fla., George of Waterford and Donald of Belding, two grandchildren. Two sisters and one brother preceded him in death. Funeral services will be at Boynton funeral home Wednesday at 2 pm with Rev. Gary Burgess of Temple Baptist officiating. Committal services will also be at the funeral home with temporary entombment in Balcom cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Tuesday from 7 to 9 pm at the funeral home.
