He was born March 7, 1941 in Ionia, the son of Frank and Virginia (Guernsey) Lance. He married Alice A. Roberts March 12, 1960 in Lyons. Roger has been a resident of the Stanton area since 2001, formerly of Napoleon and Ionia. He retired from the Chrysler Corporation and was presently driving school bus for Central Montcalm Public Schools. He was a member of the Nevins Lake Church and the UAW Local 1284. In addition, he was an avid hunter and ice fisherman and a very charitable individual, giving to many worthwhile charities. His life was his family and he thoroughly enjoyed spending time with all of them. He is survived by his wife Alice; daughter Julie (Tim) Reisbig of Ionia; son Jeffery (Colleen) Lance of Ionia; four grandchildren, Kayla Ann and Daniele Reisbig, Michael and Matthew Lance; three sisters, Bonnie (Wendel) Yager of Ionia, Janet Gorman of Ionia, Dorothy Ann and Jim Horrocks of Ionia; and one brother, Frank (Donna) Lance of Fenwick. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Nevins Lake Church with Pastor Bob Goodenough officiating. Visitation is 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Stebbins & Simpson Funeral Home at Sheridan. Interment will be at Tuttle Cemetery, Ionia.
