JAMES LANDON PASSES AWAY
   James O. Landon, 63, of Portland passed away Wednesday, May 4 at Lansing General
Hospital following an extended illness.
   He was born October 3, 1913 at Hastings, the son of Cleon and Nina (Root) Landon
and had lived at Portland after his marriage to Nellie Trumpower of Lake Odessa, July 2, 1938.  The
last 20 years his employment was installing kitchen cabinets, counter tops, etc.
   Surviving are his wife; two sons, Duane of Bath and Gordon, a State Trooper at
Niles; a daughter, Mrs. Donna Mitchell of Cincinnati, Ohio; seven grandchildren; four brothers, William,
Russell and Richard of Hastings and Wayne of Usborne Rd., Carlton Center; two sisters, Mrs. Leona Yarger
and Mrs. Leta Mesecar, Hastings.
   Funeral services were held Saturday at 1:30 at the Neller Funeral Home at
Portland, Rev. Harold Homer officiated with burial in Lakeside Cemetery.
