Lane, 94 years old, of Pewamo, died at the home of his son, Eugene Lane, northeast of Ionia, Tuesday afternoon, December 8 at 2:30 o’clock. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. ------------------ Funeral services for the late George W. Lane, 83, resident of Pewamo for more than 40 years, will be held from the Methodist Episcopal church in Pewamo Friday afternoon, December 11, at 2:00 o’clock. Burial will be in the North Plains cemetery. Mr. Lane died Tuesday after an eight weeks’ illness of pneumonia. He was born January 23, 1853, in Gratiot county the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lane, one of the first settlers of Gratiot county and the first officer of that district when it became a township. He leaves two sons, Archie H., of Pewamo and Eugene of Ionia township and a daughter, Mrs. Ina Blucher, of Carson City. There are also four grand sons and one grand daughter. Mr. Lane was a blacksmith practically all his life at Pewamo and a member of the Masonic lodge.
