Lane 27, was accidentally electrocuted at this trailer home on Harrison Street Friday evening. He and his family had moved their trailer to the location Sunday, coming here from Whitehall. A native of this area he spent his early life here and gradated from the Lake Odessa Community School, class of 1947 and served in the U.S. Navy. He was connecting a flexible sewer line under the trailer when he apparently, came in contact with a shorted wire as the ground was wet. His wife found him when she investigated after not hearing him at work. The local firemen were called but efforts to revive him failed. State Police, Sheriff Peter Van Vleck and Coroner Dale Kauffman of Ionia were called with the Coroner reporting death was due to accidental electrocution. Bob worked as a highway surveyor and was employed by the state. Surviving are his wife, the former Betty Reese; two daughters Gwenith and Julie, ages 3 and 1 1/2 years, his parents Edward & Vera Lane of Eaton Rapids; one sister Mrs. Lloyd (Marie) Hitt, one brother LaVerne of Salt Lake City, Utah; his grand parents Reva and Mrs Carl Cook and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lane, both of Lake Odessa. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 at the Pickens Funeral Chapel with burial in Lakeside Cemetery.
