Langdon, 81, at the Methodist church of Hubbardston Wednesday afternoon, May 11, with the Rev. Park Newcombe officiating. Burial was beside her husband in the Westside cemetery. Anna Belle Doremus was born near Elkhart, Ind., on April 2, 1868, the daughter of Charles and Martha Kimble Doremus. The family later moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan. While teaching school south of that city she met William H. Langdon whom she married June 11, 1888. Their wedding trip was by lumber wagon to the farm near Hubbardston, now occupied by their son Paul. They later moved into the village where they had bought the house built by Boyd Redner. After returning from the farm they spent their winters in various parts of Florida, finally establishing a home in Sarasota, where Mrs. Langdon died on May 7, at the Sarasota hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Langdon was very community minded. She was one of the founders of the Hubbardston Library and gave much time and thought to its upkeep. She served on the school board for many years and was very interested in having a good school in Hubbardston. She worked with the Woman’s Society of the Hubbardston Methodist church and later became a member of the Sarasota Methodist church. On June 14, 19398 the community celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary. Four years later on June 15, 1942 her husband died. She is survived by two sons, Charles and Paul of Hubbardston, and a daughter, Alice of Sarasota, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
