Lange, 72, died at his home at 422 State street, Ionia, Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. after an illness of one week. He had been suffering from bronchial asthma for many years. He was born in Ionia May 8, 1876, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Lange. He attended the Ionia schools and learned the cigar business later from the late G.F. Faude. He also worked in Detroit and Pontiac for many years. He married the former Bertha Rubach of Chicago, November 8, 1905. He opened his own business in Ionia, the E.C. Lange Cigar store, following his marriage. The business occupied the building now occupied by the Model bakery. Mr. Lange also worked at the Michigan reformatory for seven years and for the past two years at the Ionia Desk company. He is survived by his wife; three sons, Howard of Ionia, Edwin of Grand Rapids and Charles of Ionia; five grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mary Winters of Lansing. Funeral services will be held from the Boynton funeral home Thrusday, October 7 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. R.A. Rook officiating. The body will be at home until Thursday noon. Interment will be in Highland Park cemetery.
