Sentinel - Thursday, June 15, 1899

Roy Lantis, son of James Lantis, died at 6 a.m. Monday, after an illness of 14 
weeks, suffering from cerebro-spinal meningitis. His condition had been 
critical several times, but it was thought he would recover. He was so well 
that on Saturday his boy friends wheeled him down towards town so he could see 
the balloon ascension, and on Sunday he was also out of doors. At 2 o'clock 
Monday morning he awoke in serious condition, gradually grew worse and died at 
6 o'clock. He was a bright boy and was 14 years of age February first, last. 
His mother died about eight years ago, and he was laid beside her, Wednesday 
afternoon in Highland Park cemetery. Funeral from the residence at 2 p.m.
